scripture memory

 examples
We give our kids money for the crazies stuff, don't we?  losing a tooth, making good grades, doing chores, for turning another year older... i'm sure there are more, but that's just to name a few.

Lance and I decided that we need to be sure we are showing our kids what we think is important when it comes to this...

we want them to know that we think one of the BEST ways they can spend their time and energy is to hide God's word in their hearts.   That being our goal... we post a verse on our magnet board every few weeks and have a reward for EVERYONE that can say it from memory.

We started with James 1:19.
Let everyone be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry.

This first one was a huge success.  the reward was ANY cereal box you choose... ANYthing at all... mom will not say no!

All three kids knew the verse in five days so late one night, dawning our pj best, we went to walmart on a mission to get the best boxes of cereal that exist!

drum roll please... here is the junk they picked!  HA!

The next reward will be any pack of gum they want. Basically, i chose the reward based on what i'm constantly being asked for, but always saying no to.  It's a great trade off... they get what they are so badly wanting and the thing that they so badly need (TRUTH)!
