kickin' off summer...

after reading a great idea on one of my favorite sites... i decided that we needed to make our own list of summer activities. camp keeps our lives busy, but this will help me to spend quality time with my kids doing what they want to do. i let them flip through some family fun summer mags and this is what they came up with! let me know if you do this and what fun ideas your family comes up with!! happy summer!

  2. I love this idea. I just made our summer calendar today of everything that already is set. I asked Avery if there were things she wanted to do special this summer. She had a hard time coming up with ideas. Any suggestions?

  5. My mom did this for us when we were younger...she named them summer challenges and as we got older, we got "points" for accomplishing harder tasks on the list....playing the piano for 30 minutes, learning how to type (30 min), every summer we had a grammar and math book we had to complete, book list, art projects (needlepoint, sewing, etc). Those points were then used to do some of the nicer "fun" things. Dependend on our strengths/weaknesses different "hard" items got different amounts of points - I loved math and disliked grammar so grammar was worth more for me (although, I always managed to finish that math book first). Love the idea and hope to incorporate it one of these years. Hope your summer goes well and at the end of it you know you did an awesome job on all facets.
